Hello! Here's what we're up to today:
English 12
1. Checking in.
2. Discussion to page 181
3. Freewrite
4. (Push) Activity on prefixes, suffixes, and tone words
5. Activity on paragraphs and writing conventions:
- Underline novels
- Integrate quotes
- Use page numbers for citation
- Avoid I, We, You, etc.
- Focus on your explanations of your quotes: why are these quotes important?
- Build an argument as you go, or explore one point deeply.
- Note the paragraph rubric, taken from the English 12 exam.
6. Next class: Read to page 208, and prep for a an in-class write. Note that I'm removing the "quiz" part, so this will only be an in-class paragraph our of 12, focused on theme. You'll have 45 minutes to write (Note that a similar paragraph on the provincial exam will give you roughly 25 minutes)
