Day 1 Notes: September 14, 2017

Hello! Here's what we're up to:

English 10 - 1

a. Checking in.
b. Discussion: Why do we write?
c. How to quote and cite literature
d. Activity: With a partner embed the quote on the board at the beginning of a sentence, in the middle, and at the end.
e. Lesson: How to write a paragraph
- Remember: always use the present tense with literature, and avoid using "I," "you," or "we" 
f. Activity: Let's write a paragraph together
g. Details on next week's in-class paragraph:

1. No cell phones, but dictionaries are acceptable.
2. The paragraph must be complete before the end of class - it cannot be taken home.
3. The question will be provided during the class
4. It will be marked out of 8 (1 point for effective use of quotes, 1 point for noting line numbers, and 6 points for the paragraph, using the General Writing Rubric)
