Day 2 Notes: October 25, 2017

Hello! Here's what we're up to:

English 11

a. Checking in.
b. Discussion: How do you feel about Shakespeare?
c. Let's take a look at Project 2 details, as well as the discussion assignment
d. Small intro to Shakespeare


e. Shakespeare Literary Terms
f. How to approach Shakespeare? My own philosophy is that we need to make Shakespeare as alive as possible.

- No Fear Shakespeare is a great resource
- Reading summaries before the scene is a good idea
- Reading aloud whenever possible is helpful
- Watch film and live versions
- Read comic book versions
- Use character maps online

g. Let's get started! Book distribution, and starting the play.

English 9

a. Checking in.
b. Looking ahead to the next couple weeks.
c. Peer Review

- Does the essay have an intro, three body paragraphs, and a conclusion?
- Are there any sentences that might be effectively added to each paragraph?
- Are there any sentences that might need to be removed from each paragraph?
- Are the words "you," "I," and "we" avoided?
- Are there any spelling, verb, or punctuation errors that you see? In particular, check for comma use.
- Can they add transition words? Here is an effective resource for those words.
- Is there a Works Cited list? Is it properly formatted?
- What overall feedback can you give? Offer two positive comments, and one thing they can work on.
