-Orsino is following an old custom, in sending Viola to speak on his behalf. How do modern romances play out? How do you think they'll change in the future?
- "If it be a suit from the count, I am sick, or not at home" (104). What do you think of Olivia?
- Fools are often worth focusing on, because they are able to speak truths to power that others can't. Who are examples of modern day satirists? What "power" are they speaking to?
- This scene sets up an early rivalry between Malvolio and Feste. Why do you think Malvolio dislikes Feste so much?
- This scene also establishes a contrast in humor, between Sir Toby Belch and Feste. Which form of humour do you prefer? Why?
